Author Success Marketing
Book Marketing, Speaker Marketing or “Sharing Their Story”, as many of my fellow authors and clients prefer to call it, is hands down the most important stage in success as an author, speaker and entrepreneur. This phrase is where we work together to connect to as many social networks as are appropriate for your work.
Together we create a plan that is blended with Stage one in Author Success Envisioning and Stage two in Author Success Writing. Your marketing is anchored deeply in the passion, purpose and power of why you desire to be an author. You vision fuels the entire journey. An integrated approach builds synergistically with each phase of your work.
Here are seven important facts of life about making it a successful author:
- Publishers do not market your book without a being a household name, such as, Stephen King, a President or well known celebrity.
- 95% of all published book titles sell less than 1,000 copies.
- Publishers have dozens or even hundreds of titles releasing every week for their sales force to promote. This means it is all but assured it is unlikely your title will be promoted by them.
- To be a best seller a book does not need to be well written, but must be widely promoted.
- Word of mouth and internet buzz sells books.
- Well crafted radio interviews, speaking events and articles sell books, creating more title and name recognition
- You will need to create a marketing platform to become a successful author, reaching a broad audience through multiple channels.
Pages and pages like this list could be written to give your some sense of what will be necessary.
Other less thorough coaches and mentors offer canned approaches to book marketing, where as my Author Success Marketing program uses an individualize approach and Core Energy Coaching to determine where you need to be shining. Together, we’ll tailor an approach to your message, audience(s) and individual needs. Targeting your specific readers is the most cost effective approach.
There are scores of book and speaking market segments to address, thus a shot gun approach is a colossal waste of time. The power of focus on likely channels and YOUR target audience is essential.
